Objectives

The primary objective of this course is to ensure students can install, configure, and troubleshoot PC hardware and operating systems, and understand the components of a network, build network cables, and understand the OSI Model.

Tasks
Upon completion of this course, students will be highly proficient in the following tasks:

· Identify the fundamental principles of: using personal computers (PC’s), using laptops and portable devices, using operating systems, using printers and scanners, networks, and security

· Install, configure, optimize, and upgrade PC components

· Identify tools, diagnostic procedures and troubleshooting techniques for PC components

· Use tools, diagnostic procedures and troubleshooting techniques on network problems and on laptops and portable devices

· Perform preventative maintenance on PC components

· Describe the aspects and importance of safety and environmental issues

· Identify potential hazards and implement proper safety procedures including Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD) precautions and procedures, safe work environment and equipment handling

· RAID Configuration

· IP Addressing – Subnet calculation

· Network Troubleshooting

· Network Devices

· Open Systems Interconnect (OSI - 7 Layer Model)

· Indentify security threats

· harden internal systems and services

· enforce an organizational security policy
